HOW TO DRESS FOR NORDIC SKIING ?

Depending on the weather, it’s important to dress appropriately when we go on a cross-country ski ride.

So what should we wear?

Upper body

For the upper body, a merino wool undershirt is ideal. It will keep you dry. The colder it is, the more layers you’ll add. Avoid cotton, it can get sweaty and make you feel colder.

Finally, wear a breathable windbreaker.

Lower body

For the lower body, ensure you have a comfortable pair of pants ideal for exercise. Jeans are not a good choice.
In colder weather, add a base layer.

For men, we recommend a pair of wind-breaking boxers. No need to explain why, eh?

Also for women, we can also experience cold behinds and thighs. We recommend merino wool boxers, wind-breaking pants or an extra layer of warm pants.

Head and  neck

As heat often escapes from the head, a headband or a light tuque are great choices. A buff will protect your face from frostbite.

Feet

Buy boots that are large enough to wear thick socks. Between mittens or gloves? That’s really up to you but mittens are definitely warmer.

Some people likes to head out feeling a little cold. After 10 minutes of skiing, it’s perfect! But if you prefer to be really warm, don’t hesitate to wear additional layers. You can take them off while skiing.

We encourage you to avoid clothing made for downhill skiing. They’re really far too warm.

ENJOY WINTER ! ❄️
