Age/level categories:
► This race is intended for intermediate-level skiers and above;
► Skiers must be 16 year old to to participate in ths race;

DISCOVERY WAVE

A non-timed wave is available for this event.

Details :
► Participants will not be officially timed;
► Participants must still wear the chip and have a bib with number for safety measures;
► Start time for open waves is not specific – participants can start their race whenever they want, within a set 5-minute block, to avoid large crowds starting at the same time;
► Results will be provided in ALPHABETICAL order with COMPLETED.

CUT-OFF TIME

For reasons of safety and health, on Saturday skiers in the classical event who have not crossed the 30 km mark before 1:45 p.m. (an average speed of 6.3 km/h), will not be allowed to continue the race.

BUS

Buses depart from Mt-Bleu high school.

WAXING AREA

It is important to wax your skis before arriving at the event site.
In accordance with the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and Nordiq Canada (NC) rules, the Gatineau Loppet is now a fluoro free event. As such, the usage of fluorinated glide and kick waxes is completely banned. These new rules are in line with the Gatineau Loppet’s values and guidelines regarding the protection of our environment and the health and safety risks associated with the use of fluorinated products.

 

CLASSICAL TECHNIQUE

SANCTION

The 50 km classic technique race is included in the International Ski Federation (FIS) calendar, and FIS rules will apply. The first wave of the 50 km classical technique race will be sanctioned by Nordiq Canada for the FIS points list. All skiers participating in this first wave must present one of the following licenses:

  • FIS license

  • License issued by a national federation (e.g., international competitors)

For skiers without a license, the Gatineau Loppet will provide a Nordiq Canada Supporting Member License (day license).

SKIERS BAGS

A yellow tag bearing your bib number will be provided when you pick up your skier’s kit. Please attach this tag in a visible manner to one of the straps of your bag.

Bags may be dropped off directly at room 1409-2. Otherwise, they will be collected at the race start by our team of volunteers.

You may retrieve your bag at the skier bag drop area, located in room 1409-2 of Mont-Bleu Secondary School.

It is strictly prohibited to leave equipment bags inside the Relais plein air facilities. We also ask that no clothing or other personal items be left in the start area.

PRIZES (men and women)

► A SWIX hat will be given to all participants of the 50 km race.
► Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in both the women’s and men’s categories.

1st place: $1,200
2nd place: $600
3rd place: $300

AWARD CEREMONY

Skiers must be present to receive the bursaries or prizes. The bursaries or prizes will be awarded at the official medal ceremony (podiums) to be held at the Ski Show when the results are official at approximately 1:30 p.m. Medals must be claimed during the weekend. Results will be posted in the Ski Show and live on the web.

Medals will be awarded for each age category.
