ALEX HARVEY + ALEXIS TURGEON + GRAEME KILLICK = THE HOTTEST TRIO IN TOWN FOR THE NEW SALOMON RELAY AT THE GATINEAU LOPPET

 

For the first time in the history of the Gatineau Loppet, relay races will make their appearance for this 44th edition, on Friday, February 18, at 6:00 pm.

 

Presented by Salomon, the relays offer four starts to different teams of three members, depending on their level of competition and age group. The distance is a loop approximately 1 km: 

 

1st start (Recreational Skiers): 6:00 pm 1 lap

2nd start (U10 and U12):  6:45 pm 2 laps

3rd start (U14 and U16): 7:30 pm 2 laps

Last start (OPEN – U18 and up): 8:15 pm 3 laps

 

For the occasion, we are honored to welcome amongst the racers Alex Harvey, three-time Olympian and three-time World Champion, who will initiate the track by participating with his team of veterans, in this first relay race.

Graeme Killick, a Canadian cross-country skier from Fort McMurray, Alberta, who competed at the 2014 Sochi and 2018 PyeongChang Olympics in the skiathlon, 15km Men’s, 50km Men’s Mass Start and 4x10km relay events. In his first appearance at the FIS World Championships in 2015, Graeme helped Canada to a 10th place finish in the 4×10km relay.

 

 

 

Alexis Turgeon, a Gatineau native, raced at the national and international level as a member of the Canadian National Cross Country Ski Team and was captain of the University of Laval’s University Ski Team. He is now a financial consultant at Chappuis Halder & Co.
