In light of the recent measures announced by the Government of Quebec, the Gatineau Loppet is maintained in its” in-person” format and is still scheduled from February 18 to 20, 2022.

We are still following the evolution of the situation and will keep you informed if any changes occur. The health and safety of participants, volunteers and employees is our priority at all times.

Be careful and take good care of yourself and enjoy the outdoors !

All participants in the Gatineau Loppet agree to follow the health instructions related to the COVID-19. This guide is subject to change according to the rules dictated by the health authorities.   


 


GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Minimize contact between people at all times, especially indoors. 
  • Validate COVID procedures with Public Health. 
  • Provide hand and surface disinfectants where needed. 
  • Proof of immunization validation:  
    • Each participant, volunteer and employee will be required to show proof of vaccination accepted by the Quebec government.  
    • Bib kits will only be given to those who have shown valid proof of vaccination. 
    • All skiers must wear their bib to access the various event sites.
  • Ensure a distance of 2 meters between people inside.  

INDOOR GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Procedural mask is required at all times for everyone that is present in the indoor sites. Gatineau Loppet will provide procedural masks to users if necessary. 
  • Send daily emails to registered participants asking them not to attend the event if they have symptoms of COVID-19, have been in contact with a positive case of COVID-19 or are awaiting test results for a COVID-19 infection. 
  • Installation signage at the entrance to the various event sites reminding participants not to enter if they have symptoms of COVID-19, have been in contact with a positive case of COVID-19 or are awaiting test results for a COVID-19 infection. 
  • Control the number of people in the CEGEP wing used for the event at all times by limiting the capacity of people inside to 50%. 
  • Access to the indoor facility for skiers will be strictly dedicated to the pick-up of kits and the collection of skiers’ bags.  
  • Access to locker rooms, showers and washrooms is prohibited. 

INDOOR SERVICES OFFERED/ADAPTED
Registration and Kit Pick-up

  • Online registration closes Thursday, February 17 at noon. 
  • No on-site registration. 
  • No race change, wave change, registration change or other changes on-site. 
  • Pickup of skiers’ kits will be spread out over several days. 
  • Provide participants with online bib lists prior to kit pick-up. 

SKIERS’ BAGS

  • Bag distribution will take place in the CÉGEP cafeteria. 
  • Skiers will not be able to change on-site. 

WARM-UP AREA FOR VOLUNTEERS AND EXHIBITORS

  • Volunteers will be allowed to eat their snacks/lunch  while respecting physical distancing.  
  • Implementation of a daily COVID self-assessment process for volunteers and staff. 

NON-OFFICIAL/ADAPTED INTERIOR SERVICES

  • Information kiosk – telephone service
  • Complaints and Protests Office – service offered by phone 
  • VIP Lounge – cancelled 
  • WorldLoppet Cocktail Reception – cancelled 
  • Post race meal – cancelled 
  • WorldLoppet Kiosk – adapted, available through the WorldLoppet website 
  • Ski Show – Located outside near the CEGEP entrance 
  • Massage service – Available at the Physio avantage Plus clinic 
  • Medal Presentation  
    • Mailing of the “colored” medals of the over-all results of each race. 
    • Mailing of medals “of color” of the results by age category following the request of the winners. Postage covered by the winners.

FIELD SERVICES OFFERED/CHANGED
Departure-Arrival Stadium 

  • Signage will be installed at the entrance to the start area reminding participants not to enter if they have symptoms of COVID-19, have been in contact with a positive case of COVID-19 or are awaiting test results for a COVID-19 infection. 
  • All participants will be required to wear their bibs to access the event sites.  
  • Participants must wear procedural masks when entering the start site and until instructed to remove it  by the master of ceremonies.   
  • Volunteers must wear a procedure mask at all times on site when the 1 meter distance is not possible.  
  • Hand out procedure masks to participants at the finish line. 
  • Place medals on racks so that participants who have completed their race can retrieve their medals by themselves. 
  • Allow volunteers to retrieve chips from skiers upon arrival after ensuring that the skier is wearing a procedural mask. 
  • Skiers wearing permanent bibs (lycra) will be responsible for removing them on their own and placing them by themselves in the bin provided for this purpose.  
  • Skiers must not let themselves fall down upon arrival and leave the finish area as soon as possible.  
  • No food or beverages will be served at the finish line and on the finish site.  
  • All medal ceremonies will be held outside.

REFUELING

  • Water will be available for skiers on the course. Personal bottles will be filled by volunteers upon request.  
  • Electrolyte drinks “Xact electrolytes”
  • No food will be offered on the course. 

FIRST AID

  • First aid will be available on all courses.  

TRANSPORTATION TO THE START OF THE 50 KM RACES (P17)

  • All skiers will be required to wear their bibs and a procedural mask in order to board the bus.  
  • Buses will board as soon as skiers arrive at the CEGEP (there will be no waiting inside the CEGEP)  
  • Respect the limit of passengers on the buses which is reduced to 50% of the maximum capacity. 

MINI

  • Present  medals on a stand so that participants or parents can pick up the medal themselves. 
  • Snacks won’t be offered at the end of the race. 
  • Parents that  wish to accompany their child during the race, need to show proof of vaccination and a piece of identification to enter the start area.
