Get on your skis! #3 – My first cross-country ski

The Gatineau Loppet is proud to present a series of informative capsules to guide novice cross-country skiers. In this video, Louise and Olivier give you advice for your first cross-country ski.

About the animators:

Louise Poirier is a physical educator. She obtained a Master’s degree in Human Kinetics at Université Laval. Originally an athlete and cross-country ski coach, Louise has more than 45 years of experience in this beautiful outdoor sport. For many years, she hosted the program “Bouffée de santé” on Radio-Canada. It is by completing 10 of the greatest cross-country ski races in the world that she obtained her title of “Worldloppet Master”. She is proud to be the president of the Gatineau Loppet, the greatest cross-country ski race in Canada with a fantastic team of volunteers.

 

Olivier Babineau is a kinesiologist. He has a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from McGill University. An elite multi-sport athlete and new father, he aims to develop the vitality of people of all levels within the Fitness for Freedom company. Olivier converted to endurance sports following his many years in the world of high level soccer. He has represented Canada on several occasions in various sports including soccer, winter triathlon and trail running. After falling in love with cross-country skiing several years ago, he won the top 10 at the 50 km Gatineau Loppet. He secretly dreams of one day making a podium there and hopes to be able to discover the other international races of the “Worldloppet” series.
