The Gatineau Loppet organization wishes to reassure skiers that the Board of Directors and the organizing committee are working hard to ensure you have a winter challenge that is both interesting and safe, while respecting sanitary conditions.
As you know, the situation keeps evolving and we are following it very closely. We truly hope to see you in the wonderful Gatineau Park on February 19, 20 and 21.
We are currently working with Public Health in order to be able to welcome you in a green or yellow zone. In these zones, the Gatineau Loppet would be subject to restrictive measures. There would be no linear course from Wakefield and all departures would take place in small groups of skiers from Mont-Bleu Stadium. The courses would be modified as well as the feeding stations and the number of places per race would be limited. In order to minimize contact, the skiers’ kits would be sent by mail. For this year, the Ski Show, the organized social events as well as the snowshoe and fat bike races are cancelled.
The health and safety of our skiers, volunteers and partners remains our priority. Should the City of Gatineau remain in the orange or red zone, an “in-person” event would not be possible. Therefore, a virtual edition of the Gatineau Loppet would be launched and be accessible to all skiers around the world!
We hope to open registration on December 1st. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, we are fortunate to be able to enjoy the fabulous Gatineau Park, whose pre-sale for season passes is underway! The ski season will start soon, carry on with your training, keep your spirits up and stay healthy!
